WWE's abrupt title change sparks controversy; wrestling veteran claims Jey Uso didn't need the win (Exclusive)
Former WWE head writer Vince Russo feels Jey Uso did not need to win the Intercontinental Championship on RAW. The star defeated Bron Breakker in the show's main event this week.
Uso put in an impressive performance on RAW this week. He hit a couple of Spears on Breakker, followed by a Uso Splash for the win. With this victory, Jey won his first-ever singles title in the WWE.
This week on Legion of RAW, Russo detailed that Bron possibly did something that offended some folks backstage, and they cut short his title run. The veteran felt Uso was already over with the fans and didn't need the Intercontinental Title.
"I think Bron Breakker F'd up. I think Bron Breakker did something that somebody didn't like. They've gotta send Bron Breakker a message because they gotta break Bron Breakker. There is no way in heck that Jey Uso needed that title. No way, no how whatsoever. Jey Uso is way over with or without a title," he said. [From 4:20 onwards]
This loss ends Bron Breakker's title reign at a meager 51 days. He had won the title from Sami Zayn earlier at SummerSlam.
It will be interesting to see how WWE books Jey's run with the prestigious Intercontinental Championship.
