WWE's Hulk Hogan opens up about being affected by Donald Trump's assassination attempt

Hulk Hogan may not be an active wrestler today, but it suffices to say that taking him out of the history books would change the image of World Wrestling Entertainment from what it is today. Hogan played a key role in the 1980s professional wrestling boom and remains one of the most recognized names in the industry worldwide to this day.

In a sit-down interview with Patrick Bet-David on the PBD Podcast, Hulk Hogan touched upon a bevy of topics. At one point, he got to talking about the 45th president of the United States, Donald J. Trump. He is once again the Republican Party's nominee for the 2024 presidential election.

On July 13, Trump survived an assassination attempt while speaking at an open-air campaign rally in Pennsylvania. The WWE Hall of Famer was shot and wounded in the upper right ear. Hogan touched upon this heinous incident:

"When they tried to kill [Donald] Trump, someone that I knew personally, it affected me worse and I sat up off the couch. I said that's it, this has to stop. I don't want to split my audience as a businessman, but now I don't care. This is much more than business, this is a spiritual revolution now. This guy is coming out trying to help people, he wants to help millions of people, he wants to help America have god in our country and our homes and our schools, and I said I can't handle it." The presidential election will be held on November 5, 2024. Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are the two nominees from the Republican and Democratic Parties, respectively.

Hulk Hogan would love to step into the ring with The Legend Killer, Randy Orton

Speaking to Sports Illustrated after Randy Orton's return at Survivor Series: WarGames — after a prolonged absence owing to injuries — in November 2023, Hulk Hogan praised his last opponent in WWE.

The two faced each other at SummerSlam 2006. This was Hogan's final in-ring performance for the Stamford-based promotion. However, he continued to wrestle for Total Nonstop Action (TNA).

The Legend Killer was only 26 when he faced the WWE Hall of Famer. Hogan calls Orton a "hybrid" wrestler who works well among today's talents while also retaining what he has learned from the old-school wrestlers:

"Randy’s done something I haven’t seen done before; he’s a hybrid. A third-generation wrestler who learned from the old school. You can’t see any holes in his work. Everything he does means something. Randy doesn’t get a guy in the corner and stomp him 20 times for no reason. He’ll stop you once or twice, and it means something. He understands how to adjust and adapt in a way no one else really does," Hulk Hogan said.

The Hulkster also acknowledged his win over Randy Orton as a "fluke" and admitted that he genuinely wishes to wrestle The Legend Killer once again.
