WWE shares Drew McIntyre's backstage reaction to CM Punk return promo

WWE has shared new footage of the confrontation between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre during last night's edition of RAW. The two stars have been in a rivalry for months and they will finally be squaring off at SummerSlam on August 3.

CM Punk suffered a torn triceps during the Men's Royal Rumble match in January but kept his rivalry with The Scottish Warrior alive as he recovered from the injury. He announced to the WWE Universe that he was medically cleared during last night's show and called out Drew McIntyre.

The promotion has shared a new video of McIntyre backstage watching Punk's promo backstage and you can check it out in the Instagram post below.

Vince Russo pitches wild idea for Drew McIntyre ahead of WWE SummerSlam

Former WWE writer Vince Russo has suggested an interesting idea for Drew McIntyre and CM Punk's rivalry ahead of SummerSlam.

McIntyre has stolen Punk's bracelet with AJ Lee (his wife) and Larry (his dog) names on it. Speaking on a recent edition of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws show, Russo suggested McIntyre kidnap the former AEW star's dog and hold him hostage.

"Bro, I swear to God, if I'm writing that television, Drew's kidnapping the dog. He's holding the dog hostage. He's feeding the dog bad food like ice cream and all kinds. Bro, I am doing that in a heartbeat. Tomorrow, I am doing that, bro." [From 11:13 – 11:33]

CM Punk attacked Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania XL shortly after he won the World Heavyweight Championship. Damian Priest capitalized and cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to become champion.

The Second City Saint has also prevented McIntyre from becoming champion at Clash at the Castle and ruined his Money in the Bank cash-in attempt earlier this month. It will be fascinating to see which star emerges victorious at SummerSlam and if special guest referee Seth Rollins gets involved in the match.
