WWE shares unseen footage of major tag team arguing following RAW
WWE RAW was full of heat and tension this week as superstars prepared for the final episode before Bad Blood. A top fan-favorite tag team is now on the verge of exploding after months of issues, and officials have just released behind-the-scenes footage of a fierce argument.
The New Day seems to be on the verge of breaking up after tension really picked up between Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston in recent weeks. Monday's RAW saw Woods defeat Rey Mysterio and then thank Kingston backstage for letting him get the win on his own. Kofi wasn't OK with Xavier removing Mysterio's mask, which Woods claimed was an accident.
Kingston then revealed that he passed his own Intercontinental Championship opportunity onto Woods, and a now-happy Woods offered to be at ringside for Kofi vs. Chad Gable. The longtime friends looked to be on good terms as they walked off. However, Woods' interference later back-fired during Kingston vs. Gable, and Kofi was pinned. American Made celebrated after the match as Woods pulled Kingston out of the ring amid more tension.
World Wrestling Entertainment has now shared unseen footage of Kingston and Woods arguing backstage on Monday. The former WWE Champion voiced frustration over Woods getting involved in his match, while the UpUpDownDown leader defended his actions.
"Things are getting heated between these two... [flushed face emoji] [eyes emoji]," reads WWE's caption on the video.
Officials have not indicated if a potential Kingston vs. Woods match will take place, and Big E has not weighed in on his longtime partners facing off. Kofi and Xavier have never been on opposite sides of the ring, but they have participated in 11 Battle Royals together.
Xavier Woods set for rare WWE singles opportunity
Xavier Woods never won a singles championship in TNA, and has never held a singles title in WWE. He was the final DSW Heavyweight Champion, and the first wrestler to hold that title after WWE ended their developmental territory ties with the promotion.
Deep South Wrestling was a World Wrestling Entertainment territory from September 2005 to April 2007, but Woods was offered a contract right after the partnership ended. The promotion folded just months after his title win. DSW is also where Woods met Kofi Kingston for the first time after stopping by on a random day off from work while Kingston was training.
Kingston is a four-time Intercontinental Champion, and he was set to receive another title shot from Jey Uso on next week's RAW in St. Louis. However, Kingston suggested Uso give the opportunity to Woods, and the match has been confirmed for next Monday.
Woods has had just two Intercontinental Championship shots in his career. He participated in a Battle Royal for the vacant title at Battleground 2014, won by The Miz, and then he was defeated by Gunther on SmackDown in April 2023.
