WWE shockingly left out 71-year-old legend from Saturday Night's Main Event, claims Vince Russo
Former WWE head writer Vince Russo reviewed Saturday Night's Main Event this week. The veteran was surprised that Hulk Hogan didn't show up during the event.
Hulk Hogan was arguably the biggest star in professional wrestling when WWE started its expansion in the 80s. The Hulkster played a huge role in making the company a global juggernaut. He was synonymous with Saturday Night's Main Event during the show's early days. However, the Immortal One missed the show's return and was at UFC Tampa walking out to the octagon with Colby Covington instead.
This week on Russo's The Brand, the veteran mentioned that WWE pulled a lot of strings to get several legends on the show. Russo felt it was strange to see Hogan being left off. The former writer criticized the move and stated the company should have done its best to get him.
"I was very, very surpirsed by that. If you're gonna bring out Jesse Ventura at the top of the show, I'm thinking you're gonna bring out Hulk Hogan before the main event. But there was no Hulk sighting tonight." [From 4:54 - 15:12]
Several WWE legends popped up during the show
As the evening progressed, several wrestling legends appeared on screen. Jesse "The Body" Ventura was part of the broadcast team alongside Joe Tessitore. Ventura also did commentary during the main event.
Other stars such as Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, Tito Santana, Koko B. Ware, Jimmy Hart, and Rich Hering were on-screen during the show. The announcers also highlighted some huge moments from Saturday Night's Main Event from the past, trying to appeal to fans' nostalgia.
CM Punk was also seen backstage clicking pictures with some of these legends.
