WWE SmackDown announcer Wade Barrett labels 21-year-old megastar a "legend"

Former WWE Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett recently took to social media to label a 21-year-old megastar a legend. The star being referred to is Football sensation Jude Bellingham.

Before becoming an announcer on SmackDown, Barrett had an amazing career as a professional wrestler. He joined World Wrestling Entertainment in 2006 and started performing for the company's then-developmental territory, Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW). The 43-year-old made a huge name for himself on the main roster as part of The Nexus and as an individual competitor by winning several titles, including the Intercontinental Championship five times.

Wade Barrett is an avid football (soccer) fan and is always seen posting about the beautiful game. Barrett recently took to his Instagram stories to hail Real Madrid star, Jude Bellingham, as a legend after he inspired England's comeback against Slovakia in the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship.

"Legend [Jude Bellingham]," Barrett wrote.

Wade Barrett made a football team consisting of WWE names after a huge announcement

WWE recently made a huge announcement regarding a new deal with Football giants Manchester City, in which the Stamford-based promotion will collaborate with City for new merchandise.

Following this announcement, Wade Barrett took to X (Twitter) to pitch an idea for a match against Manchester City. Barrett formed a starting eleven consisting of major WWE names including himself, Jaida Parker, Axiom, Nathan Fraser, Sheamus, Drew McIntyre, Gunther, Santos Escobar, Giovanni Vinci, Ludwig Kaiser, and JD McDonagh.

The former Intercontinental Champion also included veteran commentator Michael Cole as the manager, his SmackDown commentary partner Corey Graves as the coach, and Pretty Deadly as mascots.

Meanwhile, former Universal Champion Finn Balor was not happy to see his name excluded from the starting eleven of Wade Barrett's team. It will be interesting to see if the Stamford-based promotion will ever form a starting eleven of WWE names for a match against Manchester City players.
