WWE SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis heartbroken over major tournament loss

WWE SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis has shared a heartbreaking update today on social media. The former NWA Champion has been dealing with a lot on the blue brand in recent weeks.

The Bloodline brutally attacked Paul Heyman and Drew McIntyre unleashed a heinous beatdown on CM Punk on SmackDown recently under Nick Aldis' watch. However, the English-born star is upset about something else entirely today and took to social media to vent about it.

Spain defeated England 2-1 today to claim the UEFA European Football Championship. Aldis took to X/Twitter to congratulate Spain and noted that he was heartbroken over the result.

"You can't switch off in the last 5 mins of a final anticipating extra time; it breaks my heart, but that's what it seemed like to me. Congratulations to Spain, who were great when it counted," he wrote.

Triple H introduced Nick Aldis as the new SmackDown General Manager last October. However, there are some who are hoping to see the authority figure return to the ring as well on WWE television.

WWE's Nick Aldis praises TNA star

Nick Aldis has recently praised Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace and claimed she is likely one of the driving forces of WWE working with TNA as of late.

In an interview with Gorilla Position, the 37-year-old spoke highly of Jordynne Grace and said she put on a great performance at NXT Battleground. Aldis added that Grace is likely one of the main reasons WWE and TNA have been working together.

"I feel good about it. I don’t know much about it, truthfully, so I can’t speak too much to it. I thought Jordynne Grace put in a tremendous performance. She’s probably a lot of the driving force behind the whole relationship because once you have a talent like that, a promoter, which Hunter and Shawn are, they are looking at it like, ‘I don’t care how we have to get it done, I want that person on my TV show.’ A lot of times, that’s the genesis of a lot of working relationships. I certainly hope that there can be more between WWE and TNA." [H/T: Cultaholic Wrestling]

Nick Aldis has a lot to deal with in regards to The Bloodline on SmackDown. It will be interesting to see if the SmackDown GM has any issues with the faction as the company builds toward SummerSlam on August 3.
