WWE SmackDown star reveals he almost lost his life the day before becoming champion at WrestleMania XL

WWE and other wrestling promotions work in the industry of sports entertainment. While they train hard to perform all their stunts safely, they still encounter very dangerous situations and injuries. However, a WWE Superstar recently revealed that he had almost lost his life a day before he became a champion at WrestleMania XL.

Grayson Waller and Austin Theory bagged the SmackDown Tag Team Championship belts at Mania. A-Town Down Under enjoyed a short title reign after that before losing their belts to The DIY. But, while speaking on a recent episode of UpUpDownDown's Savepoint, Waller revealed that he almost died in a restaurant before even making it to the arena in Philadelphia.

“He legit saved my life the day before. I was eating steak. So I eat the steak, and I'm like, uh-oh, I'll have some water. And now that I had the water, the water didn't even go down. So I went, like, gurgled. And I'm looking at Indi Hartwell there, and I'm looking at Indi like, ‘hey, I'm choking!’ And she's just sitting there smiling at me.”

Before things could take a turn for the worse, however, Waller said that Austin Theory’s quick thinking and instantaneous action saved him.

“Thank God this brother (Theory) realizes what's going on. Because in my head I'm going, dude, I'm going to die the day before I debut at WrestleMania. Like, this is the worst time of my life. It's going to be so embarrassing. But then my tag partner came through and saved my life. That's why we were so motivated to win the tag title," said Waller. [19:28 - 20:00]

Interestingly, this revelation came shortly before A-Town Down Under secured a big win on this week’s episode of WWE RAW.

Austin Theory and Grayson Waller defeat cross-branded WWE tag team

Just like the A-Town Down Under, The Awesome Truth also walked away with the Tag Team Championships of the RAW brand. However, they lost their belts to R-Truth’s innocence and Liv Morgan’s trickery, crowning JD McDonagh and Finn Balor as the new champs.

To add insult to injury, The Awesome Truth suffered another defeat by their WrestleMania XL counterparts Theory and Waller on WWE RAW.

The final moments of the match saw Truth knocking The Miz out while trying to deliver an Attitude Adjustment to Grayson Waller. To make matters worse, Waller wasn’t even the legal man and now a weak R-Truth couldn’t tag out. Taking advantage of this, Austin Theory landed his finisher to finish the match.

This left The Miz visibly frustrated since he lost another match because of his tag team partner. Notably, there were no signs of any tension between the A-Town Down Under due to Waller’s recently exposed selfishness. It would be interesting to see if their duo builds themselves up again and challenges The Bloodline in the future.
