WWE star bashes LA Knight after SmackDown, claims he has no heritage, culture, or family

The new WWE United States Champion, LA Knight, seems to have a target on his back. Several stars in the locker room are eyeing his US title.

This week on SmackDown, The Megastar walked out to celebrate his monumental win at SummerSlam. However, Legado Del Fantasma interrupted the celebrations and Santos Escobar cut a passionate promo on Knight. Escobar told the champ that his reign was just the opening act for his epic run with the United States Championship.

WWE correspondent Byron Saxton caught up with Legado Del Fantasma on SmackDown Lowdown. Escobar claimed that Knight's celebration was all a farce, and he would soon claim the US title. He also taunted the current champion for having no heritage, culture, or family backing him.

"I just couldn't stay there and watch that so-called celebration. You see, this whole LA Knight as a champion thing, or movement or whatever you wanna call it, I don't buy it. It just does not compute. You see him saying he's got this, that, and the other. Look at me, I truly deserve that opportunity. I should be the United States Champion, I will be the US Champion, why? Because I have tradition, heritage, culture, family, of which he has none. And I will become the new United States Champion. Like I said, with everybody saying, Es-Co-Bar Si." [From 3:47 - 4:45]

Santos Escobar will challenge LA Knight for the United States Championship

After the confrontation with LA Knight on SmackDown, Escobar geared up for a number one contender match against Andrade for the United States Championship.

During the match, Baron Corbin and Apollo Crews emerged to neutralize Angel and Berto, who were looking to tilt the odds in favor of Escobar. Just as the Speed Champion looked comfortable to win the encounter, Carmelo Hayes ran in to distract Andrade.

The distraction allowed the Legado Del Fantasma leader to roll up his opponent for the win and become the new number one contender to the US Title.
