WWE star was convinced massive change to The Judgment Day would get him fired
A former member of The Judgment Day recently revealed he thought he would be released from WWE following a major change in the faction's storyline. The superstar in question is Damian Priest.
The Archer of Infamy joined forces with Edge at WrestleMania 38, helping him secure a win over AJ Styles in a singles match. After The Show of Shows, the duo revealed The Judgment Day as the name of their alliance. At WrestleMania Backlash, Rhea Ripley was added to the faction.
The following month after Hell in a Cell, Finn Balor joined the group, however, in a shocking term of events, Balor, Ripley, and Priest attacked The Rated R Superstar and kicked him out of The Judgment Day.
In a recent conversation with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Damian Priest stated he got upset after Edge told him about the plans of the latter getting kicked out of the stable. He also revealed Ripley got more mad than him after she came to know about the plan.
"We’d just had a major moment joining together, forming The Judgment Day. It felt like no time had passed, and then it was Edge who told me that he was being taken out of the group. He waited to tell me after TV one night when we were on the road. I thought we were done. I was so upset. When Rhea found out, she was even more mad than me," he said.
Priest added that Edge was one of their biggest backers while also claiming he still speaks with the latter. The former World Heavyweight Champion was convinced he would be fired after the event. The 41-year-old claimed he was waiting for a phone call informing him about his release.
"Edge was mad, too. I still speak with him–he was one of our biggest backers. When he told me, I remember him saying, 'All of this for nothing.' And I repeated that–for nothing. That’s the way it felt at the time. I was waiting for the phone call to get released. Obviously, it worked out a lot differently." [H/T: Sports Illustrated]
The Judgment Day to reportedly get a new name soon
After the removal of Damain Priest and Rhea Ripley from the group, The Judgment Day could reportedly set to undergo a name change. The faction now consists of Finn Balor, Dominik Mysterio, Liv Morgan, JD McDonagh, and Carlito.
According to a recent X/Twitter update posted by WrestleVotes, the group is likely to be rebranded and given a new name. The tweet also mentioned "Street Trash" as one of the possible names.
It will be interesting to see what name WWE will eventually come up with for the faction that has been an integral part of the company for a while.
