WWE star opens up about Samantha Irvin's departure; explains what gave her legendary status
Samantha Irvin shocked the wrestling landscape by announcing her departure from WWE last month. The former announcer put out the statement hours before the October 21 edition of Monday Night RAW.
Samantha Irvin's decision to leave WWE has not gone well with many fans, especially due to her fiancé, Ricochet, parting ways with the Stamford-based company earlier this year to join AEW. RAW backstage interviewer Jackie Redmond recently shared her take regarding the same.
In an interview with Gabby LaSpisa on the Gabby AF podcast, the 37-year-old stated that Samantha was passionate about singing and music and did not deserve any hate for following her passion. Redmond further praised Irvin and explained how the latter emoted with her voice to use to bring out the best of her as an announcer thereby making her work legendary. She also noted that Samantha was an amazing human being.
"The thing about Sam [Samantha Irvin] that I think people need to realize because I know since she left, there’s been a lot of fodder online — Sam right now is following her heart. I don’t understand how anyone could ever hate on someone for that. She’s following what she genuinely is passionate about, and that’s singing, and that’s music. The reason she was able to be so legendary as an announcer is because she understands how to emote with her voice and she understands how to make her voice powerful. She knows all the ways to use it and to use it with conviction and convey certain things, even though all you’re doing is saying a name, which is crazy to think about. Her talent, she’s undeniable, she’s absolutely undeniable. As a person, she’s amazing," she said. [H/T: NoDQ]
Jackie Redmond revealed how Samantha Irvin helped her during her early days in WWE
While talking about Samantha Irvin, Jackie Redmond stated that the 35-year-old came up to her to make sure she was comfortable on her first day at work.
Redmond further claimed that Samantha Irvin and former WWE Superstar Ricochet would often drive her back to her hotel after shows to make sure she was safe. She further highlighted the little things that made the former RAW announcer dear to her.
"Sam is someone that, on day one, that came up to me and made an effort to make sure that I was comfortable and if I needed anything. Her and Ricochet would drive me back to the hotel after the show, just little things that go a long way, and you know, I think that just speaks to her heart. I think she knew that I didn’t know anybody, and I didn’t know how to sort of, like, break that life with a lot of people outside of doing the actual work. I think she saw that I was having a bit of a hard time with it, and she and her soon-to-be husband were really great to me. That’s why I have so much love for Sam outside of the talent and everything else," she said. [H/T: NoDQ]
