WWE star Sami Zayn breaks character to send emotional message to wrestling legends The Briscoes
Before joining WWE in 2013, Sami Zayn wrestled all around the world and was a well-known name in the world of professional wrestling. One of his notable runs outside Titanland was his time in Ring of Honor, where he competed under the ring name El Generico.
Kevin Owens also worked in ROH before joining WWE. In 2007, Zayn and Owens formed a tag team in Ring of Honor to feud with The Briscoe Brothers. One of their iconic matches took place that same year at the Man Up event, where both teams locked horns for the ROH World Tag Team Championship in a Ladder War. The bout is still remembered as one of the best tag matches of the promotion, where fans saw Jay and Mark Briscoe retain their championship.
On the 17th anniversary of the match, Sami Zayn took to X/Twitter and posted a clip of the match. The former Honorary Uce shared his thoughts on the bout and labeled The Briscoe Brothers as the best tag team in the past 25 years.
"The Briscoes are the best tag team of the past 25 years, and on a short list for best of all time. At least a dozen top wrestlers today will tell you the best/toughest tag matches of their careers were with Dem Boys. I wouldn’t be here without them. I miss you Jay. Love you Mark," Sami Zayn tweeted.
Mark Briscoe reacts to Sami Zayn’s high praise
The Briscoe Brothers were one of the top tag teams in the world. Unfortunately, Jay Briscoe passed away last year. His brother Mark Briscoe is continuing the legacy and is the reigning ROH World Champion.
Sami Zayn’s high praise caught Mark's attention, and he penned down a heartwarming comment. He noted that the match was one of the greatest memories he has.
"Some of the greatest memories of my life involve the 4 of us beating the ever loving sh*t out of each other…love you man!"

On the other hand, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are both at the top of their career in WWE. They main evented Night One of WrestleMania 39, where they managed to end the iconic Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship reign of The Usos.
Currently, both stars are working on different brands. On RAW, Zayn is gearing up to likely face Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at Bad Blood next month. Meanwhile, Owens is on SmackDown, teaming up with Randy Orton.
KO also failed to defeat Cody Rhodes for Undisputed WWE Champion at Bash in Berlin 2024. The American Nightmare and he have seemingly moved on to other storylines.
