WWE star who hasn't wrestled on TV in 465 days comments on why she didn't like her new gimmick

A WWE star recently commented on why she didn't like her new gimmick. This star hasn't competed on television in 465 days.

Since her debut, Carmella has been one of the most entertaining acts in the women's division. She has been involved in multiple key storylines and has played a crucial part in uplifting the women's division. Her ability to obtain a reaction from the fans saw her receive a push when she won the women's Money in the Bank ladder match in June 2017. She then went on to win the SmackDown Women's Championship.

However, Carmella has been through some personal struggles and tragedies in recent years. She eventually returned to the ring for a brief period in 2023 before being absent from television again. Her last televised match took place on the March 6, 2023, episode of RAW where she lost to Bianca Belair.

Throughout her WWE career, Carmella has played many characters. One of those is her "untouchable" character, which she debuted in 2020 during a feud with Mercedes Mone. However, this character was eventually scrapped.

Recently, a fan posted on social media that it was a shame that Carmella didn't like her "untouchable" gimmick. The former Women's Champion corrected him by saying that she didn't want a new character at that time.

"It’s not that I didn’t like it. I just didn’t want a new character. And it didn’t pan out the way it originally started so it felt like I wasn’t doing the character justice. When I was told I needed a new direction I went all in and pitched this entire character. Going to find the original video I had made and post it here for yall."

Carmella recalls getting separated from Big Cass and Enzo Amore before WWE main roster debut

During her days in WWE NXT, Carmella was manager for Big Cass and Enzo Amore. The trio's act was quite popular on the brand, which eventually led to their main roster call-up. However, their main roster debut came with a major change.

During an interview with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, the WWE star recalled getting split from Cass and Enzo just before their main roster debut.

"We’re about to head back to the hotel; Triple H wants to talk to you. I’m like, 'Oh yeah, we’re debuting tomorrow!' I was so excited. And he pulled me, and he’s like, 'Enzo and Cass are debuting tomorrow!' And I’m like, 'Yeah!' He’s like, 'You’re not going to debut with them!' My world just came crashing down. I was devastated in the moment," she recalled.

It remains to be seen when or if Carmella will return back to the ring again in the near future.
