WWE star Zelina Vega reflects on her personal loss and fan supportĀ
WWE Superstar Zelina Vega is one of the many citizens of the United States of America who were deeply affected by the September 11, 2001, terror attacks. The Latino World Order member recalled the tragic events on her social media accounts on Wednesday.
On this dark and disturbing day 23 years ago, Zelina lost her father, who was stuck on the 103rd floor of the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Vega was only 10 years old at the time.
Taking to X (Twitter), the erstwhile Queen Vega expressed her gratitude to fans for their constant support over the years. The RAW Superstar also recounted her journey from being a ''heartbroken kid'' making signs for her father to earning fans who have been doing the same for her.
"Incredibly grateful to the people who reached out and support[ed] me today and every day. To go from being a heartbroken kid looking for her dad and making signs like the one in the first photo to having fans make signs like the one in the second photo just shows how much we will truly never forget. I have the best fans in the world. Thank you guys!" Zelina wrote.
Zelina Vega wants to win the WWE Women's Title to honor her late father
Although Zelina Vega has had several memorable moments in the Stamford-based promotion, the 33-year-old has never held the top prize in the women's division.
The LWO member challenged Rhea Ripley for the WWE Women's World Championship at Backlash in her home, Puerto Rico, in May 2023. Despite suffering a loss, Vega proved that she belonged to the main event scene. She also locked horns with current champion Liv Morgan in a title match on RAW in July 2024.
During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, Zelina expressed her desire to win the Women's World Title for her father.
"I genuinely believe that it has to [happen]. There's no reason that it shouldn't. There's just so much you can ignore the people and what they want. I feel like if this continues that way, a decision's gonna have to be forced at some point. So it's just on me to keep doing what I'm doing because there's nothing else I can do. I'm gonna do it for him," she said. [H/T: USA Network]
It will be interesting to see if the erstwhile Queen Vega manages to become the WWE Women's World Champion in the future.
