WWE stealing 36-year-old current champion from another top promotion must happen, urges Matt Morgan
Over the past few weeks, multiple TNA stars have appeared on NXT. A wrestling veteran now believes WWE should steal one of these wrestlers, who is currently a champion.
The star in question is the TNA Digital Media Champion, Joe Hendry. As part of the ongoing collaboration between WWE and TNA, the 36-year-old recently made his NXT in-ring debut, participating in a battle royal for a shot at the NXT Championship. However, the TNA Digital Media Champion was immediately eliminated. On the Gigantic Pop podcast, wrestling veteran Matt Morgan addressed Hendry's future, disclosing that he would like to see him join the Stamford-based company.
The TNA legend praised Hendry's character development, pointing out that the Digital Media Champion is "super talented" and "so charismatic." Hence, he disclosed that he wants to see the Scottish star "get paid."
"[Do you believe WWE will steal Joe Hendry?] I hope so. Oh God, I hope so. Yeah, I wanna see this dude get paid. He's figured a thing out that they always, even I couldn't figure it out as a wrestler for 13 years, of how can you find something that's not done before? How can you create a character that's not been done yet. This dude figured it out. Like, there's not, I'm not, unless I'm wrong, I've not seen another character sing songs about their opponent clowning the hell out of them and having these awesome edits in the video along the way. And he's just so charismatic. Good-looking dude. He's super talented. This guy's got this mug cheesy smile. Like, he's awesome. I love him," he said. [50:15 - 51:01]
What did Joe Hendry say about his appearance in WWE?
In a recent interview with Inside The Ropes, Joe Hendry opened up about his surprising NXT appearance. He revealed that it was not confirmed until the day before the show.
Meanwhile, the TNA Digital Media Champion stated that he was "extremely grateful" to all the WWE staff in the Performance Center, pointing out that they made him feel at home:
"I'm extremely grateful to all the staff in the Performance Center from the wrestlers themselves to the coaches, to production, to all the staff, the medical, everyone in there made me feel so at home and they were so open to collaborating. I feel like I really learned something, I feel like we were able to showcase TNA as well and I think what went down was a classic example of when everybody wins. TNA wins, NXT wins, the fans win, everybody got benefit out of this and everybody won and I think this is just the beginning of an amazing time in professional wrestling," he said. Several current WWE Superstars have had stints in TNA, including Drew McIntyre, Chelsea Green, and LA Knight. It would be interesting to see if Joe Hendry would join that list.
