WWE Superstar credits Baron Corbin for taking him "under his wing" (Exclusive)
WWE veteran Baron Corbin recently received praise from a young superstar. Carmelo Hayes has shared his appreciation for everything he has learned from The Lone Wolf.
Baron Corbin joined WWE's main roster in 2016 after a four-year run in NXT. Over the years, he has become one of the most reliable performers in the company. He returned to the white-and-gold brand in 2023 and has since mentored many up-and-coming names, including Carmelo Hayes.
In an exclusive interview with Bill Apter of Sportskeeda Wrestling, Carmelo Hayes recently said the former United States Champion "smartened" up numerous NXT wrestlers by taking them under his wing.
"Actually, I appreciate Baron Corbin a lot. He's one of those guys that, he came in, you know, he took a lot of us younger guys under his wing in a way, and kind of just smartened us up on the game. There is a lot of stuff that we don't know on the other side, that we aren't privy to because we haven't got to experience that yet." [3:04 onwards]
Carmelo Hayes said Baron Corbin was extremely knowledgeable about how things worked on WWE's main roster
According to Carmelo Hayes, Baron Corbin's ability to stay relevant despite being through ups and downs in his career is worthy of praise.
In the same interview with Bill Apter, Melo explained that Corbin went through NXT to get to where he was now, making his advice invaluable for others on the same path.
"Just about the business. You know what I mean, about like what to expect on the other side. You know he is so knowledgeable on that aspect. He has kind of been through the highs and been through the lows. He is a guy who can talk to you about longevity. Believe it or not, he has been up on the main roster consistently I think for almost ten years. And he went through the same system we are going through now in NXT so who better to learn from than a guy like that?" [3:20 onwards]
Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker recently lost their NXT Tag Team Championship. While Breakker is now part of WWE SmackDown, it remains to be seen what's next for The Lone Wolf.
