WWE teases reforming faction after 3 years in SmackDown segment involving Austin Theory

Things are taking a very interesting turn with Austin Theory on SmackDown. Following what can only be described as an underwhelming year, WWE made a major tease that might hint at the reunion of a faction after nearly three years.

This week on SmackDown, we saw a segment backstage featuring WWE Tag Team Champions Grayson Waller and Austin Theory. The latter has been having doubts about this alliance recently, with his ex-faction member Johnny Gargano fueling them. Some of you may not know, but Gargano and Theory were part of the same faction, The Way, that operated in NXT from 2020 to late 2021. Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae, also on SmackDown, were a part of the group, as was Dexter Lumis.

The WWE Tag Team Champions had a back-and-forth where Austin Theory didn't seem to fully trust Grayson Waller as he told him they needed to be on the same page. It led some to believe that The Way could get reformed on SmackDown.

It would certainly benefit Hartwell and LeRae, who have struggled to establish themselves on RAW and SmackDown.

This has been building for weeks. It'll be interesting to see how this story plays out on SmackDown.
