WWE News: WWE teases the return of the "Broken" Hardy Boyz
What’s the story?
One of WWE’s official Twitter accounts, the WWE Network handle, has Tweeted out a video of the WrestleMania XXV match between Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy. The Tweet also makes a passing reference to the “Broken” gimmick of the Hardys in TNA/Impact Wrestling.
In case you didn’t know...
Matt and Jeff Hardy parted ways with Impact Wrestling towards the end of February 2017 and were signed up to a month-long contract with Ring of Honor.
Ever since then, the Hardys have been involved in a series of bitter exchanges with their former employers at Impact Wrestling, the disputes have been about the ownership of the “Broken” characters, with both parties laying claim to the same.
Matt Hardy, however, has recently acquired the trademark to the “Broken” name.
The heart of the matter
Ever since Matt and Jeff Hardy parted ways with TNA, it has been consistently rumoured that they would be ending up joining the WWE. Matt Hardy has been responding to several Tweets by WWE’s official Twitter accounts and even the WWE have stepped things up in terms of making mentions of the Hardy Boyz.

What’s really intriguing with the Tweet sent out by WWE Network’s Twitter account, is the fact that the word “BROKEN” has been emphasised, much in the same way that the Hardys themselves do with the “Broken” gimmick that they’ve been portraying.
The Tweet in question was met with a tremendous response by the fans and can be seen below:
You better believe tables were BROKEN in the battle between The #HardyBoyz at the 25th Anniversary of #WrestleMania! #WWENetwork pic.twitter.com/Bvtg4fmGWo

The Tweet was subsequently retweeted by both Matt Hardy and his wife Reby Sky. What is also worth noting is the timing of the Tweet by the WWE Network Twitter account, as it comes merely a day after Matt Hardy had made the announcement about having acquired the trademark for his “Broken” moniker.
Hardy’s Tweet confirming the same was as follows:
Well, you are accurate. #BROKEN Matt Hardy is officially @RebyHardy & myself's licensed trademark, as stated by the US Patent Department. https://t.co/hwWCeAIAew
— #BROKEN Matt Hardy (@MATTHARDYBRAND) March 25, 2017
It does appear that some plans might actually be afoot for bringing the Hardys back in the WWE fold.
What’s next?
While it had been repeatedly rumoured that The Hardy Boyz would be making some sort of a WrestleMania 33 appearance, however, that seems to be out of the question for now.
The Hardys are scheduled to go up against The Young Bucks at Ring of Honor's Supercard XI event on 1st April 2017. They will be defending their Ring of Honor Tag Team titles in the ladder match.

Rumours are rife that the Hardy Boyz might very well make their WWE return the very next night of WrestleMania 33, during Raw.
Author’s take
All of WWE’s Social Media accounts are heavily monitored and regulated by higher management within the company. Every single word that is mentioned on WWE’s social media, is done for a reason and that is a major reason why this doesn’t just seem like a coincidence.
The usage and capitalisation of the “Broken” word was obviously intended by WWE, and with Matt Hardy having recently acquired the right to his “Broken” name, there is a good chance that the two events are correlated.
Matt and Jeff Hardy might just end up bringing the Broken gimmicks over to the WWE after all, even though it has been speculated that the Hardys will only return to the WWE in their old avatars.
As it stands, the situation still remains unclear and we shall keep you updated on the same.
