WWE veteran comments on potential Brock Lesnar opponent being16-time World Champion instead of Gunther (Exclusive)

Rumors of Brock Lesnar returning to WWE have been making the rounds lately. According to a veteran, a former champion may be his opponent.

The Beast Incarnate recently popped back up in the wrestling community after both Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes indirectly referenced him on RAW. As expected, this led to speculation about Brock's potential return, with many predicting that a showdown between him and Gunther was on the cards. However, former WWE Head Writer Vince Russo is unsure about the idea.

Speaking on Sportskeeda's Writing with Russo, Vince Russo tried to think of other opponents for Lesnar except Gunther. He mentioned John Cena as a potential match, albeit unenthusiastically stating that this particular feud had happened a number of times before.

"I mean you got Cena coming back. We have seen that a million times." [From 03:23 to 03:27]

The WWE veteran is not quite taken with a potential Brock Lesnar vs Gunther match

While many think that the Ring General would be a good opponent for Lesnar, Russo thinks differently.

On the same episode of Sportskeeda's Writing with Russo, the veteran recalled how Gunther had suffered defeat at the hands of Sami Zayn. Consequentially, Russo thinks booking Gunther against Brock Lesnar does not make much sense.

"I gotta be honest with you bro, and I can't get this out of my head. I can't get past Sami Zayn beating Gunther. I just can't... And then not only that, then Gunther didn't wanna wrestle him? (...) So Gunther didn't wanna wrestle Sami Zayn, but he is gonna wanna wrestle Brock Lesnar? I mean think about that!" [From 01:44 to 02:13]

For now, fans will have to simply wait and see if Lesnar returns to WWE, and who his opponent will be.
