WWE veteran fooled into believing 47-year-old star was the fifth member instead of CM Punk: "Good gamesmanship, Paul"
Former WWE Superstar Mark Henry recently spoke about CM Punk joining the fray for Survivor Series: WarGames. The Best in the World showed up this week during the final segment of SmackDown. However, Henry was expecting to see Brock Lesnar combine forces with The OG Bloodline due to a promo.
Paul Heyman pulled off a major coup as he convinced Punk to be the fifth member of Team Roman Reigns at Survivor Series WarGames. The Wiseman returned this week on SmackDown alongside The Second City Saint to bolster the ranks of the OG Bloodline. The babyface team also comprises Reigns, The Usos, and Sami Zayn. They will take on the Solo Sikoa-led Bloodline on November 30.
This week on the Busted Open podcast, Henry said he expected Heyman to enlist Brock Lesnar as the fifth member of Reigns' squad. He pointed out that The Wiseman was emphasizing "five" during his promo, possibly hinting at the F5, the 47-year-old's finishing maneuver. The former world champion felt that was an intentional twist, and he enjoyed it.
"One hundred percent unequivocally believe that. Even though Paul swerved me when he said five and he emphasized the five. I'm thinking oh my Lord, no he's not. I thought it was F5. That was intentional, swerved. Good gamesmanship, Paul. You got me." [0:55 - 1:20]
CM Punk has been out of action since Bad Blood
Earlier this year, CM Punk ended his trilogy of matches with Drew McIntyre with a brutal Hell in a Cell bout. The Best in the World won the contest, but it took a toll on him physically.
On the RAW after Bad Blood, Punk showed up and told fans that he needed time off to heal. The Second City Saint wasn't even sure when he would return given the damage he suffered inside Hell in a Cell.
The former WWE Champion has now returned and will team up with Roman Reigns and his allies at Survivor Series. It will be interesting to see whether Reigns and CM Punk can work together long enough to take down the new Bloodline.
