WWE veteran praises Damian Priest's current run as the World Heavyweight Champion
WWE Superstar Damian Priest has been carrying the World Heavyweight Championship since WrestleMania XL. Recently, the legendary Booker T shared his two cents on The Archer of Infamy's current run on television.
The Judgment Day member cashed his Money in the Bank contract on Drew McIntyre at this year's Showcase of the Immortals to become the new world titleholder. Since then, the 41-year-old star has beaten tough challengers like Seth Rollins, Jey Uso, and even The Scottish Warrior again to keep the title around his waist.
On a recent episode of The Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T heavily praised Damian Priest's presentation as the World Heavyweight Champion. The 59-year-old WWE legend believes The Archer of Infamy's ability to defend the title without relying on The Judgment Day crew makes him a top competitor:
"Damian's [Priest] been doing a hell of a job. What I appreciate about Damian is they've [WWE] been letting him go out there and get the work done all by himself. He hasn't had a lot of outside interference in his matches or anything like that. He's been going out there showing that he can compete, not compete but perform at the highest level," said Booker. Damian Priest is set to defend his WWE title at SummerSlam 2024
Former Intercontinental Champion Gunther defeated Randy Orton to become the 2024 King of the Ring in Saudi Arabia. As announced by Triple H, The Imperium leader earned a World Title shot for WWE SummerSlam 2024.
On the July 15 edition of Monday Night RAW, Damian Priest and The Ring General came face-to-face. Their promo battle turned into a war of words, with each tearing into the other on the microphone. However, before things could escalate physically between Gunther and El Campeon, the latter went on to compete in a singles match against Braun Strowman.
The 41-year-old star secured a big win over The Monster Among Men. Following the match, The Ring General attempted to attack The Archer of Infamy, but the tables were turned. The WWE World Heavyweight Champion delivered a massive clothesline to Gunther and the latter was forced to retreat from the ring.
It remains to be seen if Damian Priest will continue his reign as the World Champion on Monday Night RAWs after potentially retaining his title at the Biggest Party of the Summer.
