WWE veteran praises person responsible for Logan Paul's promo, says segment with LA Knight was a little "too cute" (Exclusive)
The final episode of SmackDown before SummerSlam was bound to have some massive moments and one of them involved Logan Paul and LA Knight. While reviewing the show, Dutch Mantell shared his thoughts on the segment, particularly putting Logan over for his promo.
Logan Paul was a hated man in Cleveland, and he was heavily booed during an angle in which he brought out 'three dignitaries' of the city to honor ahead of SummerSlam.
Paul's promo got him even more heat, and Dutch Mantell noted that the United States Champion had quickly developed into a phenomenal performer on the microphone.
While speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk, Dutch Mantell said that every promo doesn't need to be cryptic and praised whoever was responsible for putting together the script for Logan Paul, even if it was the superstar himself.
"He is a great talker, so I like the way they are doing the interviews now because the people are following what they are saying. Everything is not so deep or so convoluted that you can't understand it. But this was a well-written interview unless Paul wrote it himself, whoever put it together, it was good, I enjoyed it." Dutch Mantell was entertained by the segment between Logan Paul and LA Knight but admitted to having one criticism.
The former manager found the angle a little "too cute," but he was willing to give WWE a pass as the company is focused on entertainment.
"Now, he will probably drive that truck into the arena tomorrow. I enjoyed that, but I think some of the stuff was a little bit too cute for what it was intended for. Still entertaining but they can get by it. When they say it's entertainment, this is what they are presenting. It's entertaining, it's not all wrestling." [46:11 onwards]
Logan Paul's night didn't end well as LA Knigth drove off in his PRIME truck, and Dutch Mantell hoped the Megastar would make his entrance at SummerSlam with his rival's vehicle. That would indeed be highly cool and fitting for an event like SummerSlam!
