WWE veteran questions the legitimacy of Mike Tyson's match: "60 million people were ripped off" (Exclusive)
Former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently discussed Mike Tyson's recent boxing match against Jake Paul. The two pugilists went at it this past week at the AT&T Stadium in Texas.
Jake's recent victory over 'Iron' Mike Tyson attracted a lot of criticism from viewers and fans alike. Several fans even went on social media to ask for refunds and claimed that the match was totally staged.
This week on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, Russo detailed how anyone who saw the fight could tell it was not legit. He pointed out that the two men's working style made this evident. The former WWE writer was irate that so many people who bought the match were actually ripped off.
"If you don't think this fight was a work, you either didn't watch it or you're a blind person. There is no one out of the 60 million people that viewed this fight thought this was a shoot. 60 million people were ripped off. Bro that's gotta be a record. How many people got ripped off at one time?" [From 3:18 onwards]
Despite the quality of the bout not being at par with Tyson's previous bouts, the WWE Hall of Famer managed to draw a handsome sum for the encounter, proving that he's still a major attraction.
It will be interesting to see if WWE plans to capitalize on Tyson's recent wave of popularity and bring him into the fold heading into WrestleMania season.
