WWE veteran responds to Rikishi challenging him to a fight; clarifies his comments on Jey Uso (Exclusive)

A wrestling veteran has finally responded to WWE legend Rikishi's challenge after his comments on Jey Uso's Intercontinental Championship win. The Samoan Stinker was not happy with Vince Russo's comments.

Jey Uso finally won a singles title by defeating Bron Breakker on an edition of WWE RAW. On the following episode of the red brand, The Yeet Master opened the show to embrace the win and share his moment with the fans. However, the former Bloodline member got extremely emotional during the segment and barely said anything.

After the show, wrestling veteran Vince Russo had some negative things to say about Jey Uso letting his emotions get the better of him. Russo's comments did not sit well with Jey's father, Rikishi, who blasted the former WWE writer for how he critiqued the segment. The Samoan Stinker even challenged Russo to a fight.

During the latest episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Coach and Bro Wrestling Show on Backstage Pass, Vince Russo clarified his comments, saying that he was just breaking down the television show and did not like how Jey Uso opened RAW.

"This wasn't in the moment bro, this was a couple of days after the moment. And like I said, I'm breaking this, I am breaking down a television show. And I know how important the start of a show is and you need to open it with a bang. That's all that was," he said.

Russo highlighted that Rikishi told him to keep the Anoa'i-Fatu family's name out of his mouth, but he would not do that because he understood why the WWE Hall of Famer got angry as a father.

"Nothing personal here. I completely understand this is his son, so he's gonna hear what he wants to hear and he's gonna react to that. So, I'm not gonna sit here and say, 'Okay, Rikishi, yeah and bro anybody can lace up a pair of boots just like anybody can write a show with a pencil.' And [he said] do me a favor bro, keep [my family's name] out of [your] mouth. I'm not gonna do that bro because I understand it and I get it," he added. [20:06 - 20:57]
