WWE wants a major name as a "bad guy" in CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins, says Hall of Famer, and it isn't happening
CM Punk and Seth Rollins are embroiled in one of WWE's biggest feuds heading into 2025. Meanwhile, Bubba Ray Dudley believes the management wants The Second City Saint to turn heel against The Visionary, but it isn't happening.
Seth Rollins and CM Punk have been at each other's throats since the latter returned last year. On this week's RAW, The Second City Saint called out The Visionary. However, Punk got angry when Rollins mentioned his failed attempts to headline WrestleMania.
On Busted Open, WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley reacted to the brawl between Seth Rollins and CM Punk from Monday Night RAW. The veteran said the management seemingly wanted Punk to be the bad guy in the rivalry, but it wasn't happening due to Rollins' promo delivery.
"I think Punk tried to force himself down people's throats last night as the bad guy. I think that they [WWE] want Punk to be the perceived bad guy here and Seth [Rollins] [to] be more loved. It just isn't happening. I'm telling you it's all in Seth's delivery," Dudley said. (From 15:38 onwards)
CM Punk is set to face Seth Rollins on WWE RAW in January 2025
Last year, Seth Rollins was unhappy with CM Punk's return at WWE Survivor Series in Chicago and wanted to settle the issue with The Second City Saint. However, injuries kept both superstars away from each other in the following months, and they had new and old faces to feud with before eventually crossing paths.
Earlier this month, Rollins confronted Punk, and the two got into a heated argument followed by a brawl that ended quickly due to Sami Zayn and Jey Uso. On the latest edition of Monday Night RAW, The Second City Saint and The Visionary brawled all over the arena in Boston to close the segment.
Later, it was announced that CM Punk would face Seth Rollins on Monday Night RAW when the show heads to Netflix on January 6, 2025. The card will also feature a Tribal Combat between Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa.
