WWE will not push 33-year-old superstar, says Vince Russo (Exclusive)

According to Vince Russo, WWE won't be pushing a fan-favorite superstar anytime soon. He recently explained why Lyra Valkyria was a more probable bet as a future top star of the women's division than Chelsea Green.

The former Women's Tag Team Champion has impressed many since joining the company in 2023. Green has much of her career in front of her, and the potential to become a prominent name in WWE. However, the 33-year-old has yet to receive a significant push on television.

On Sportskeeda Wrestling's Writing with Russo, Vince Russo said although Green had a sizeable fanbase, she might not receive a push. Meanwhile, the former writer believed Lyra Valkyria could be booked to win the Women's Money in the Bank contract to set up a high-profile feud.

"I don't think they view Chelsea Green unfortunately as viable enough, I don't. Bro, I'll tell you who they are gonna put over: Lyra Valyria. They are bro, because what does that set up? [A match with Becky Lynch]. There you go, bro. That's what it is gonna set up bro." [7:09 onwards]

Valkyria was called up to WWE's main roster as part of the 2024 Draft. Before being picked by RAW, she held the NXT Women's Championship.

WWE veteran Vince Russo thinks Chelsea Green has plenty of talent

Although Vince Russo thinks Chelsea Green may not be pushed by WWE, he has admitted that it is not because of a lack of talent.

On the same episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Writing with Russo, the veteran made a snide remark about how the creative department could sometimes derail a superstar's run. He further explained how Green was quite capable of creating her own legacy.

"She can get infectious on her own, bro. On her own. She knows how to get herself over. She could do that on her own, inspite of them. I just think they [the company] don't look at her that way, unfortunately." [10:00 onwards]

As of now, only time will tell what the future holds for Chelsea Green in WWE. She is set to battle Women's Champion Bayley on the May 24, 2024, episode of SmackDown.
