Xavier Woods addresses The New Day's potential split ahead of WWE RAW anniversary special
Even without former WWE Champion Big E owing to unavoidable circumstances, The New Day remains one of the most celebrated groups in the company. Xavier Woods has now addressed the tension between him and Kofi Kingston.
According to Woods, this is not a typical wrestling storyline, where one thing leads to another and brothers get bitter and fight one another. It appears the former King of the Ring is implying that the group will remain together no matter what.
Speaking to TV Insider, Xavier Woods acknowledged the bickering between him and Kofi Kingston on live TV. He explained it as only something mature adults do in 2024, and that they are not going to split over petty issues.
"We’re mature adults living in 2024. If I can’t text [Kofi Kingston] or call him and have a genuine conversation about a disagreement, then how strong is our friendship in the first place? It has always been in wrestling where someone gets jealous or someone accidentally hits someone and we’re fighting. The next thing you know I’m making someone bleed in the streets. If that happened, were we really genuine friends? What you’re seeing now is just a maturation of our brotherhood," he said.
RAW General Manager Adam Pearce recently informed Kingston that they are going to host a special episode of the red brand dedicated to The New Day's 10th anniversary.
Xavier Woods comments on The New Day's upcoming celebration on WWE RAW
When asked in the same interview with TV Insider about what fans can expect on the upcoming celebration of The New Day's 10th anniversary, Xavier Woods revealed that they have filmed some video packages.
He further reminded fans that wrestling is supposed to be fun, and that is what the iconic trio were best known for on television.
"We did film a bunch of stuff going through our historical things the past 10 years. It’s going to be a party. It’s going to be a huge party on RAW because that’s what we have done at WWE. Lots of people have forgotten wrestling is supposed to be fun. That’s why we came into the picture to remind everyone," Woods stated. "That’s what the celebration will be. It’s going to be a good time and a reminder that wrestling is supposed to be fun."
As of this writing, WWE has not announced when The New Day's celebration will take place. It suffices to say that fans will be expecting original member Big E to at least make an appearance on the special episode.
