"You wanted to see it" - Wrestling veteran recalls Hulk Hogan's bitter rivalry with Hall of Fame Legend (Exclusive)

Former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently spoke about the Hulk Hogan and "Macho Man" Randy Savage storyline from back in the day. The two stars met at WrestleMania V for the WWE Championship.

Throughout the summer of 1988, Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage teamed up to take down the heels in WWE. However, this friendship started developing cracks when Miss Elizabeth started accompanying the Hulkster, putting her in harm's way. This did not sit well with Randy and he started developing an intense hatred for this tag team partner.

This week on Writing with Russo, the former writer discussed epic storylines that he was not a part of. He felt that "Mega Powers Explode" was the best angle that came to mind. Russo pointed out that fans always wanted to see that match pitting arguably the biggest stars in the company at the time against each other.

"I would definitely say, when I look back over the years, it's got to be the Mega Powers. You wanted to see it. The funny thing about that was when they were together, you knew it was happening and you couldn't wait to see it. I would definitely say that was right up there." [From 0:45 onwards]

The rivalry between Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage remains one of the most memorable feuds in the history of WWE.

This feud has been retold in several WWE documentaries including season four of the A&E series WWE Rivals.
