Zelina Vega reveals wholesome gesture by Rey Mysterio before they came out on RAW

It was a mixed night for Zelina Vega and the LWO on Monday Night RAW on September 9. While Zelina picked up a huge win, her fellow LWO member Dragon Lee lost, and Rey Mysterio was badly injured. She revealed a wholesome gesture by the WWE Hall of Famer backstage.

This week, the LWO crossed horns with The New Judgment Day. While Dominik Mysterio vs. Dragon Lee was already booked, Rey Mysterio took on Finn Balor, who previously called out Damian Priest for a match at Bad Blood 2024. In that match between veterans, Balor took out Mysterio, and the referee was forced to stop the contest after Balor refused to abide by the rules.

Zelina Vega, meanwhile, teamed up with Lyra Valkyria and the returning Natalya to defeat the Pure Fusion Collective Trio of Sonya Deville, Zoey Stark, and Shayna Baszler.

It was noticed that something was written on Vega's sleeve: a message paying tribute to her late father. Zelina revealed that Rey Mysterio wrote it for her.

"Best part about that.. Rey wrote it for me. 🥲," she wrote,

Last week on RAW, a fan put out a sign paying tribute to Michael Trinidad - the father of the LWO superstar. Zelina Vega even thanked the fan on Twitter/X for reminding her of her father, who she said will always be in the front row.

She has spoken extensively before about the moment she found out her father passed away in the 9/11 tragedy. Speaking to former WWE personality Renee Young, aka Renee Paquette, Vega described it as an "out of body" type of experience.

Vega holds her father close wherever she goes. The LWO helped breathe new life into her career, and fans will hope she eventually pushes for gold.
