Nick Aldis to reveal he's signed former Universal Champion; next Bloodline match? 4 things the WWE SmackDown GM can announce on tonight's show
Nick Aldis has been doing a fine job at the top of the WWE SmackDown management. He has booked some incredible matches over 2024 and could end the year on a high with a few major bookings to cap off the year.
Some rivalries have been building on the blue brand, which could be addressed by the General Manager of the brand. Meanwhile, he could also look to take advantage of the transfer window to bring some big names to the brand.
The upcoming episode of SmackDown before Saturday Night’s Main Event will give Nick Aldis a platform to make some big announcements. He could have some surprises in store for fans on Friday.
Check out the four big announcements Nick Aldis could make on the upcoming episode of SmackDown.
#4. Former Universal Champion might arrive
Nick Aldis will be looking to make some big moves during the WWE transfer window to get an upper hand on Adam Pearce and Ava. With that in mind, he could go after one of the biggest stars in WWE.
The latest edition of SmackDown could see Nick Aldis come out to announce Carmelo Hayes’ mystery opponent and the brand’s newest member. Braun Strowman’s music could hit, and the former Universal Champion could return to the brand for a better run.
The Monster of All Monsters last competed on RAW in September, where he defeated Bronson Reed in a Last Monster Standing Match. A change of brands would give him some newer names to work with.
#3. The Bloodline might get their next match on Friday
Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline failed to come out on top at Survivor Series: WarGames. However, that hasn’t stopped the heel from wreaking havoc on SmackDown and claiming to be the best.
The heelish faction attacked Andrade and LA Knight while sparing United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura last week. Their actions could prompt Nick Aldis to book a top tag team match for the coming week.
Andrade and LA Knight could team up for the first time to face The Bloodline in a match down the road. It would make sense to engage the two babyfaces for some time to allow Shinsuke Nakamura a longer title reign.
#2. Nick Aldis could announce the date for SmackDown: New Year’s Revolution
January 3, 2025, will host the first episode of SmackDown in the coming year. Triple H and Nick Aldis may have big plans for the show since it will be followed by RAW’s Netflix debut.
Nick could appear on the show to make a major announcement regarding the first episode of the blue brand. He could reveal that the show will be following the New Year’s Revolution series, just like 2024.
The special tag to the show will give Aldis and his team a chance to book some PLE-level matches on a regularly televised show. WWE fans could see a major title defense and some grudge matches take place on January 3, 2025.
#1. DIY’s first match as champions could be announced on WWE SmackDown
DIY did the unthinkable on last week’s SmackDown when they stole The Street Profit’s shot at the WWE Tag Team Championship. Not only did Johnny Gargano give his team a title shot, but he also turned heel against The Motor City Machine Guns.
Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa worked together to take down MCMG and won the WWE Tag Team Championship for the second time in their careers. This time, Nick Aldis could allow them to hold the titles for a while longer.
Aldis could announce a major Triple Threat Tag Team Match involving DIY, The Street Profits, and Motor City Machine Guns. He could book the match for the New Year’s Revolution show to give the champions some time to breathe while making the show's first episode in 2025 a must-watch affair.
