NJPW News: Cody Rhodes proclaims himself as the leader of the Bullet Club

Is the Bullet Club finally entering the era of The American Nightmare?
Is the Bullet Club finally entering the era of The American Nightmare?

What’s the story?

For the first time since betraying his former leader Kenny Omega at NJPW’s New Beginning in Sapporo show, “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes has finally admitted to the fact that he indeed considers himself as the one true front-runner and leader of the Bullet Club.

In case you didn’t know…

After months of dissension within the Bullet Club, especially between Cody Rhodes and Kenny Omega, “The American Nightmare” finally decided to turn his back on Omega, following “The Cleaner’s” IWGP US Title loss to “Switchblade” Jay White at this year’s NJPW: New Beginning in Sapporo show.

The heart of the matter

Bullet Club members Kenny Omega and Cody Rhodes were involved in yet another heated brawl with each other, following a six-man tag team match between the Golden Lovers and Chase Owens against the Bullet Club’s Cody Rhodes, Marty Scurll, and Hangman Page at today’s Honor Rising show at the Korakuen Hall.

In order to prevent further damage, several members of the Bullet Club, including the Young Bucks decided to step in and once again decided to play the role of peacekeeper as they somehow pulled apart Cody and Omega away from each other and put a stop to their intense ringside brawl.

However, as the rest of the Bullet Club members made their way backstage, Cody decided to take the microphone in his hands in order to address the crowd. He said that the Golden Lovers reunion was cut-short and did not even begin properly, thanks to the Bullet Club, who earned themselves a dominant win over the trio of Omega, Ibushi, and Owens earlier today.

Additionally, Cody also labeled himself as “The Face of Ring of Honor” and eventually ended his speech by stating: Bullet Club is fine. Bullet Club is mine.

What’s next?

This is the first time that Cody Rhodes has billed himself as the leader of the Bullet Club, ever since he turned his back on Omega. However, as of right now, the group’s current leadership status is still unclear and a lot of questions will be answered when Omega and Cody finally square off at this year’s ROH: Supercard of Honor pay-per-view at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans.

Author’s Take

Personally, I believe that Kenny Omega is still the perfect choice to lead Bullet Club despite the immense amount of success he has earned for himself since leaving the WWE

However, this storyline, in my opinion, is the currently the most interesting and exciting storyline in Pro Wrestling today and I cannot wait to see how all of this eventually unfolds.
