What's the story?

On the recent edition of Jim Ross' podcast, The Ross Report, former WWE Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho talked about his recent brawl against Kenny Omega in NJPW and gave an insight regarding the brutal angle against the Bullet Club leader.

In case you didn't know...

During this week's NJPW World Tag League finals, former nine-time WWE Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho made a shocking return to Japan and blindsided current IWGP US Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega, following The Elite's match against Roppongi 3K.

Jericho would hit Omega with two Codebreakers and also used "The Cleaner's" US Title as a weapon, busting him wide open in the process. "The Ayatollah of Rock 'n' Rolla" also attacked commentator Don Callis and proceeded to do further damage on Omega, but failed to do so as the Young Bucks decided to step in and save their faction leader.

The heart of the matter

During the recent episode of The Ross Report, Chris Jericho decided to make a surprise call on Jim Ross' show in order to promote the Cruise of Jericho event, taking place in 2018. However, during the call, Ross took the opportunity to ask Jericho regarding his physical interactions with Omega.

The 47-year-old then responded saying that it was great to finally work with Kenny Omega and also praised "The Cleaner" by calling him a great worker. Jericho then admitted that he is happy regarding the fact how their entire angle played out and seeing Omega being busted wide open and bleeding all over the place was also a great touch.

Jericho then talked about WWE's PG environment and pointed out that there are several rules and regulations that one has to follow while working under Vince McMahon, however, according to him, it was "very cool" to finally being able to bend the rules a bit, following his WTL finals angle with Kenny Omega. The former WWE US Champion also stated that this might be the first time in almost 10 years that he or his opponent has been busted open in the ring and Y2J also described it as a great feeling.

What's next?

Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega are now all set to collide with each other at next year's Wrestle Kingdom 12 event, which will take place on January 4th, 2018 at the Tokyo Dome. The Fozzy frontman will look to win the IWGP US Title off Omega and dethrone the Bullet Club leader in the process.

Author's Take

Jericho and Omega's brawl at the World Tag League and the recent NJPW Press Conference was truly amazing and goes on to show that NJPW books everything with perfection.
