NJPW News: Former WWE World Champion praises Alpha vs Omega match
What’s the story?
Following the Alpha vs Omega match at Wrestle Kingdom 12, former WWE World Champion and Mexican Pro Wrestling veteran Rey Mysterio decided to take it to his official Instagram account and show his appreciation towards Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega.
In case you didn’t know…
During last night’s Wrestle Kingdom 12 event, Kenny Omega went into an absolute war against former WWE World Champion Chris Jericho. The two men faced each other in a brutal no disqualification match for the IWGP US Heavyweight Championship, and despite being in his 40s Y2J proved that he is still one of the best wrestlers on the planet as he took Kenny Omega to his limit.
However, in the end, the Bullet Club leader was resilient enough to retain his US Championship as he pinned Jericho following a One-Winged Angel on a steel chair.
The heart of the matter
The two Canadian natives received a lot of praise from the entire wrestling world, following their amazing match at the Tokyo Dome last night and former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio was one of the many Pro Wrestling legends to praise the Alpha vs Omega match.
Mysterio posted his heartfelt message on his official Instagram as he stated that he had high expectations from both Omega and Jericho and much like every time the two Winnipeg stars delivered on the big occasions and did not disappoint at all. The Mexican Luchador also wrote that the Jericho and Omega was absolutely dope and the crowd was also lit during their match.
What’s next?
Following Omega’s successful championship defence against Jericho, it seems like Omega will now look to achieve bigger things in 2018 as leader of the Bullet Club and the pioneer of NJPW. Omega’s next US Title defence could possibly be against the returning “Switchblade” Jay White, who attacked Omega during this year’s NJPW: New Year’s Dash event.
