NJPW News: Jay White joins top faction in New Japan Pro Wrestling
What's the story?
During today's NJPW post-Wrestle Kingdom 12 press conference, "Switchblade" Jay White announced that he has decided to join Kazuchika Okada's Chaos faction and will be representing the faction from now on in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
In case you didn't know...
New Zealand native Jay White made his return to NJPW during last year's Power Struggle pay-per-view. At the age 25, White is considered as one of the top prospects in the current wrestling scene today and at the Wrestle Kingdom 12 event, he shared the ring with one of the top wrestlers on the planet today, in Hiroshi Tanahashi.
White and Tanahashi battled for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship at the Tokyo Dome but despite a valiant effort from "Switchblade" he couldn't dethrone "The Ace".
The heart of the matter
After rejecting an offer to join the Bullet Club at the New Year's Dash event, Jay White has instead decided to join forces with the likes of Kazuchika Okada, Will Ospreay, Hirooki Goto and others as he united with the Chaos faction.
During today's press conference, White claimed that he's going to need backup in his war against the Bullet Club and thus he decided to join Chaos. Additionally, Switchblade addressed the BC leader Kenny Omega by stating that he has seen Kenny's power for a long time and it is time for White to take that power from "The Cleaner". White further said he's going to take the IWGP US Heavyweight Championship from Omega and the title is coming to Switchblade.
"Now Kenny, last night he talked about potential, and people of power know potential when they see it."- White stated.
What's next?
It now looks like Omega and White will collide soon for the IWGP US Championship in the near future. But, during today's press conference White also decided to put his new stable leader Okada on notice by saying that he has joined Chaos only for himself and asked "The Rainmaker" not to get too comfortable.
Author's Take
I think Jay White should have stuck to being a singles star without any sort of faction, however, there is no doubt that Jay White vs Kenny Omega will be an instant classic when it takes place.
