NJPW/WWE News: Former NXT star officially signs with NJPW after recent WWE departure

What's the story?

Former WWE superstar Mikey Nicholls FKA Nick Miller has officially signed with New Japan Pro Wrestling, shortly after his recent departure from the WWE.

In case you didn't know...

After a successful run as part of Pro Wrestling NOAH, both members of The Mighty Don't Kneel, Shane Thorne and Nick Miller officially signed with the WWE reporting to the Performance Center in April of 2016.

During their run on NXT, TMDK managed to reach the finals of The Dusty Rhodes tag team classic in their very first attempt, however, eventually failed to win the tournament. In December of 2018, Throne requested and was granted his release from the WWE in order to spend more time with his family.

The heart of the matter

In the aftermath of the recently concluded New Japan/Ring of Honor: Honor Rising tour, NJPW has now officially announced all the participants for this year's New Japan Cup and one man who is all set to make his debut as part of the NJ Cup is non-other than former WWE NXT star Mikey Nicholls aka Nick Miller.

Having announced his departure from WWE just over a few months ago, this will be Nicholls' first appearance in the Pro Wrestling circuit, as he prepares himself to go one-on-one against Bullet Club's young boy Hikuleo in his NJPW debut.

Shortly after Nicholls was announced as an NJ Cup entrant, it was also confirmed by Rocky Romero that the former WWE star will be aligning himself with the CHAOS faction, joining the likes of Kazuchika Okada, Will Ospreay, and Tomohiro Ishii.

What's next?

The 2019 New Japan Cup will take place on the 8th of March and concludes on the 24th of March. This year will feature the NJ Cup debut of 7 new stars, including Mikey Nicholls, who has certainly taken the Pro Wrestling world by storm by announcing his New Japan arrival.
