New Tag Team Champions

The night kicked off with the Lucha Dragons (Kalisto and Sin Cara) defending their NXT Tag Team titles against Buddy Murphy and Wesley Blake.

Blake and Murphy earned their shot at the Tag Titles last week when they defeated The Vaudevillians. The match was very fast, now at first thought one might think that speed would favor the Lucha Dragons, but Murphy and Blake matched the Dragons step-for-step.

The match would later break down. Sin Cara would be taken out of the match when Murphy ran him into the apron on the outside of the ring. Kalisto would gain control inside the ring, but a blind tag would be the deciding factor in the match.

Murphy tagged Blake without Kalisto seeing. Kalisto would then go on hit his signature move and cover Blake, but then it happened. Murphy would slide into the ring and roll up Kalisto pinning him 1-2-3.

Blake and Murphy not only stunned the Lucha Dragons, but the NXT fans as well, as they ended the reign of the Lucha Dragons, becoming the new NXT Tag Team Champions.

Number One Contender’s tournament continues: Neville vs Kidd

Tyson Kidd and Adrian Neville would continue the first round of the Number One Contender’s tournament.

Neville would come out looking to use his high flying style, but Tyson Kidd would negate it by constantly going outside the ring.

Neville would then make a mistake by going to the outside, were Tyson Kidd would take advantage by running Neville into the steel steps. Tyson would then ground Neville with his great technical wrestling, but when he got an opportunity, Neville took off.

Neville got the opening to speed up the match and gained the upper hand. Neville would later hit Kidd with a power bomb that seemed to take Kidd out of the match. Neville would look to go to the top rope, but Kidd would rise and blast Neville off the apron and into the barricade with a dropkick.

The match from that point would be high paced, and the momentum of the match would change at a moment’s notice.

Neville was finally able to ground Kidd long enough to climb to the top and hit his signature move the “Red Arrow.” Neville was able to pick up the 1-2-3 advancing himself in the tournament.

Baron Corbin vs Bull Dempsey

The second Number One Contender’s tournament match of the night would be Baron Corbin vs Bull Dempsey.

This match wouldn’t be very long, but it was physical. Corbin would dominate Bull, and would then hit his finishing move “The End of Day” beating Bull and moving on in the tournament.

Corbin’s win would move him on to the next round where he will face the former NXT Champion Adrian Neville.

Zayn and Owens sign the contract for ‘Take Over’

The night ended with the contract signing for the match between Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens at NXT Take Over. Last week Sami Zayn demanded that he and Owens have a match, and refused to face anyone until then.

Zayn signed the contract, but Owens refused. Owens refused to sign the contract because the match was non-title. Knowing that Zayn badly wanted this match Owens forced his hand, and in turn Zayn begged General Manager William Regal to make the match for the title.

Owens got what he wanted, and now his match at NXT Take Over will be for Sami Zayn’s NXT Championship, and Owens barely had to lift a finger to get it.
