From the WWE Rumor Mill: NXT developmental talent Demitrius Bronson out due to a concussion
What's the story?
There were rumours that former NFL running back Demitrius Bronson was among those released on Thursday by the WWE, but it turns out that he is still with the company. It was reported on Friday morning that he has suffered a bad concussion according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.
In case you didn't know
Bronson was born in Kent, Washington and coming out of high school he was rated a 3-star talent by Rivals.com.
He would attend the University of Washington in his home state, but rarely played and eventually transferred to Eastern Washington, a team who is famous for having red turf.
The heart of the matter
It is unknown how long the NXT Superstar will be out of action, but it sounds like the concussion was pretty severe.
With the focus on brain injuries within not just the WWE, but sports overall, the medial staff will definitely proceed with caution before letting Bronson back into the ring.
He signed a developmental deal with the WWE in October of 2016 after a brief career in the NFL.
Though Bronson didn't have a prolific college football career and wasn't invited to the NFL Combine, he still was able to sign a free agent deal with the Seattle Seahawks in 2014.
The NXT in-ring debut for Bronson came at an NXT Live event in Crystal River, Florida last March.
His first television appearance took place last September in a tag match losing to Heavy Machinery.
What's next?
Stay tuned to Sportskeeda for the latest on the health of Bronson. If the concussion is as bad as it is being reported, he may be out for a few weeks.
Author's take
It is definitely a minor setback for someone I think will be a star in NXT before long.
A couple friends of mine have seen his work in small promotions prior to signing with the WWE, and they were very impressed. Hopefully Bronson has a speedy recovery!
