NXT News: Aleister Black works raw live events during Europe tour

Aleister Black joined the rest of the Raw superstar on their European tour

What’s the story?

Since his debut during the WWE United Kingdom Championship tournament, the former-Tommy End (now Aleister Black) has been a pretty focal point of NXT programming. This past week, WWE decided to temporarily add Black to the main roster for their shows in Europe, giving those who don’t regularly watch NXT a chance to see what this newcomer can do.

In case you didn't know...

A Dutch native, Black first signed with WWE in 2016 following a successful indie career that took him all over the world. He performed under his original ring name, Tommy End, in an exhibition match against Neville.

During NXT Takeover: Orlando, he debuted under his new name, Aleister Black, in a match against Andrade Almas. Since then, he’s participated in matched on NXT’s weekly show, usually winning them decisively.

The heart of the matter

During Raw’s show in Zurich, Switzerland, Black took on both WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville and Austin Aries in a Triple Threat match. He also had a match against Curt Hawkins during a taping of WWE Main Event in London (yes, that’s still a show). WWE also felt it prudent to publish this photo on their Instagram account:

It appears the #WWEZurich fans aren't the only ones interested in the appearance of @aleister_black.

What’s next?

For the time being, expect Black to stay on NXT TV for a while. While WWE clearly has high hopes for him, he was most likely included on the tour due to his familiarity with European fans.

Author’s Take

I’m no expert and this is just my opinion, but considering the way they’re booking him in NXT, I don’t really see him staying there that long. Who’s he going to feud with in NXT? Sanity?

Even if it’s just the Cruiserweight division – which, in my opinion, is really underrated at this point and could use someone like Black to spice it up much like Neville has – I’d like to see Black on the main roster in no more than six months.
