NXT News: NXT television tapings delayed due to Hurricane Irma's aftermath
What's the story?
Mike Johnson of PWInsider is reporting on some recent news the WWE announced in the wake of Hurricane Irma. The WWE delayed the NXT tapings scheduled for tonight, September 13th, by a day and they are planning to tape on the 14th.
In case you didn't know...
NXT tapes their television episodes from Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. They typically tape three to four shows in a row once a month to air Wednesdays on the WWE Network.
The heart of the matter
Hurricane Irma joined Hurricane Harvey as category four hurricanes to hit the United States causing extensive damage. It is the first time that two category four hurricanes have hit the United States in the same year.
As of September 12th, Full Sail University had not reopened after Hurricane Irma passed through the area, two days ago.
If there is another delay, the WWE Network could potentially re-air NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III, or possibly put together a best of 2017 show next week.
What's next?
After Asuka's goodbye to NXT last week, the NXT Women's Division will look to move on to determine their next champion. Triple H announced last night that Mae Young Classic winner Kairi Sane will compete for the title at NXT Takeover: Houston in November.
Also expect the trio of Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, and Kyle O'Reilly to make their next move as they continue to terrorise the NXT roster. The stable was recently given a name, The Undisputed Era", as well as a t-shirt in the WWE Shop.
Author's take
I'm actually surprised that they were only postponing the tapings for a day to this Thursday. There are still a lot of people in Florida without power as cleanup from the storm continues.
I wouldn't be shocked if it does get delayed again, but as long as everyone is able to safely get to Full Sail, the show may go on!
