WWE NXT Takeover: Brooklyn summary and results - Title changes, ladder match, exciting debut and more
The event commences with a WWE NXT: Takeover Brooklyn Kickoff pre-show with Renee Young, WWE Hall Of Famer Lita, Byron Saxton and Corey Graves, live from the Barclays Center. The four talk about tonight’s matches and the build-up to the event including the various feuds that will culminate tonight.
The live special is inaugurated with Triple H in the ring declaring that NXT is the future, which gets big pops from the crowd and elicits “We are NXT” chants from them.
Match 1: Jushin “Thunder” Liger defeats Tyler Breeze.
WWE legends Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Sean Waltman are seen seated amongst the crowd at ringside.
Match 2: The Vaudevillians defeat Blake and Murphy for the NXT Tag Team Titles.
More star power as we see the camera zooms in on music industry mogul and legendary producer Rick Rubin seated at ringside.
Match 3: Apollo Crews (in his NXT debut) defeats Tye Dillinger.
William Regal makes a major announcement introducing the “Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic” that will commence on the September 2nd NXT episode.
Match 4: Samoa Joe defeats Baron Corbin.
Match 5: Bayley defeats Sasha Banks to become the new NXT Women’s Champion. Charlotte and Becky Lynch come to the ring to congratulate Bayley. Sasha Banks gets up and hugs the new champion, to huge pops from the crowd. We leave them with a big group hug in the ring.
Match 6: Finn Balor defeats Kevin Owens for the NXT Championship in a ladder match.
