Subsequently, during Summer 2019, he moved to the University of Alabama. At Alabama, he claimed the shot put title at the SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships in both 2021 and 2022, and also seized the outdoor title in 2022 before graduating.

After defeating Riley Osborne on January 2, 2024, Oba emerged as the winner of the NXT Breakout Tournament 2023. The following week, he cashed in his Breakout Tournament contract and defeated Dragon Lee to claim the NXT North American Championship, marking his first-ever title win and making history as the inaugural Next In Line program graduate to clinch a WWE title.
