Omos to make a surprise return to WWE after 158 days and immediately become a champion? Exploring the chances

WWE recently released a fascinating video on social media. Popular, yet sometimes shady NXT star Tony D'Angelo was seen speaking to a large hooded figure. Unfortunately, the identity of the figure remains unknown as of now.

Tony D'Angelo made it clear that he wants help taking out Oba Femi, who is the current NXT North American Champion. Tony has had issues dealing with the 26-year-old star and is seemingly paying somebody off to do it. That somebody might be The Nigerian Giant Omos himself.

Omos last appeared 158 days ago on the April 5, 2024 edition of SmackDown, where he competed in the annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. It has been significantly longer since he had a televised singles match, which took place at Backlash 2023 against Seth Rollins. Now, there is a chance that the 30-year-old star could be returning and win a title immediately.

As noted, Oba Femi is the NXT North American Champion and the big man has been unstoppable with the gold. It seems as if nobody can overpower Femi, but there is one man who might be the only star in WWE that would make Oba seem small.

Omos already held gold once, as he is a former RAW Tag Team Champion. He has also been in the ring with some of the best of all time, including AJ Styles, Seth Rollins, and Brock Lesnar. With his size and experience, The Nigerian Giant could become the new NXT North American Champion if he is indeed the mystery person in the video.

A run on WWE NXT could save Omos' career

Omos returning to WWE television and immediately dethroning Oba Femi of the NXT North American Championship would be great for many reasons. Fans would not see it coming, it would add a big name to the white and gold brand, and it would potentially cause fans to tune in to the show each week.

Beyond that, this could be huge for Omos' career. As noted, The Nigerian Giant has not been a regular on television for quite some time. While he has performed on house shows at points, even that is far less common nowadays.

If Omos wins the NXT North American Championship, this means he will become a regular on TV once again. Not only that, but it will allow the big man to get reps in, perhaps train at the Performance Center, and continue to improve.

Many people have been fearful that Omos could end up getting released by World Wrestling Entertainment considering how infrequently he has been used. Winning the NXT North American Championship would mean that The Nigerian Giant will be around for a long time moving forward.
