Opinion: Has WWE Offered Kenny Omega Such A Big Contract?

Kenny to make the big bucks?
Kenny to make the big bucks?

In news that has been expected for several months now, former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega has revealed that he will be parting ways with New Japan Pro Wrestling after nearly a decade.

Even before Kenny made the announcement, rumors have been running rapidly for several months now about WWE being very interested in signing the Golden Lover, however, with the big news revealed last week about the new All Elite Wrestling promotion and it being run by Jacksonville Jaguars co-owner Tony Khan and Omega's close friends Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks each serving as Vice Presidents, it now seems that Omega could sign a big deal with the new upstart promotion.

Right now, in the minds of many fans, one big thing that could get in the way of Kenny signing with AEW is Vince McMahon and his money. And while it is very possible that Kenny could sign with them, as he has stated he would like to wrestle at WrestleMania, particularly with AJ Styles, I think throughout social media many people are making it seem that he will sign with WWE as they share posts of 'sources' claiming that Kenny has been offered massive WWE contracts of over $20 Million+ to be paid over a 3-5 year period.

And this, I must say is completely ridiculous. There is no doubt in my mind that the rumors of WWE trying very hard in signing Omega and offering him a handsome contract are very true indeed, but these so-called 'sources' which fans are not naming just blindly sharing with these ridiculous numbers of $20 Million+ are completely false and unrealistic, and this is why.

Has a lot of money to make in WWE, but not THAT much
Has a lot of money to make in WWE, but not THAT much

Let's be honest, yes, Kenny Omega is one hell of a talent, arguably the best wrestler on the entire planet today, on his way to becoming one of the best of all-time and probably the most famous wrestler in the world to be currently not attached to WWE.

So what could this mean for Vince McMahon, the man who still makes all these big money decisions? Well, not a whole lot. If we are being honest, there is a fairly good chance that the boss doesn't even know who Kenny Omega is. Should he have heard of the name by now? Well sure, probably from those who pay far more attention to the goings-on in wrestling outside of WWE, like Triple H, but Vince really wouldn't know that much about him other than he's got the buzz.

It is a very well known fact that Vince McMahon doesn't know much that happens in wrestling outside of WWE, and as the man who still has the final decision on what contract goes to who and for how much, there is no chance in hell, pun absolutely intended, that he would offer a substantial contract of over $20 Million over a 5 year period to someone he has only heard of by name and probably never even seen a picture of.

This doesn't mean that WWE won't be offering Kenny a big contract, I believe they will or maybe already have offered up a very reasonable deal, similar to that of an AJ Styles or Shinsuke Nakamura, worth somewhere in the region of $3 - $5 Million at most, with the usual merchandise and such, bonuses. The ball will be firmly in Kenny Omega's field, but with already teasing joining AEW on the latest Being The Elite and with company owner Tony Khan being worth $4.5 Billion, WWE will certainly have some stiff competition in dollar figures.
