Opinion: Kevin Owens shouldn't face Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35

WWE should reserve this feud for the near future

One of the biggest news breaks of this week has been that of Daniel Bryan's opponent for WrestleMania 35. As per Jeremy Botter of Bleacher Report, the current plans for Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35 is to face a returning Kevin Owens. While Botter doesn't explicitly mention whether or not it will be for the WWE Championship, given Bryan's recent run, it is being believed that the said match will be for the prestigious title.

Kevin Owens has been out of action since October after injuring both of his knees. The angle done to write Owens off TV was quite interesting which saw a rare double turn. Owens was brutally attacked by Bobby Lashley after his match with the All-Mighty, who turned heel in the process and Owens was being cheered. The Prizefighter has recently resurfaced on WWE TV albeit through pre-recorded selfie promos where he is seen having some fun time with his family whilst also talking about his return to the squared circle. As per Owens himself, he is already cleared by the WWE doctors and will be making a return in a month's time, which means that he will be on time for WrestleMania 35.

While Owens vs Bryan is an exciting matchup for Mania and has all the ingredients to be the match of the night, we don't think that fans would want to see this match at WrestleMania 35. Given how things stand right now, Kofi Kingston is the company's best bet to face Bryan at WrestleMania. Kingston has been on a career high for the past few weeks and given that fact that he has already pinned Bryan twice, he seems like the most credible opponent for Bryan at Mania.

While the company has already booked Bryan vs Kingston for Fastlane, it would be foolish on the part of the WWE not to have Kingston in the WWE title picture, given the kind of reaction that he has been getting. Now, we all know that the WWE Championship match isn't going to be in the main event of Mania this year and it will most likely end up somewhere in the middle of the card, why not have a multi-man match at Mania for the championship. Have Bryan defeat Kingston through nefarious means or get a screwy finish in there, add Mustafa Ali and Samoa Joe in the mix and you have a compelling 4-way match for the title at WrestleMania.

Besides, Owens has other business to take care off. We already know that continuity and WWE don't always hand in hand but we believe that the Owens-Lashley double turn was a special moment and the company should build on it. Owens returning to avenge what Lashley did to him and his best friend, Sami Zayn (remember that) has the potential to be a great storyline. Owens vs Lashley, although we've seen it a dozen times in free TV, is a match made for a big stage like WrestleMania especially after what Lashley did to Owens. It will quite interesting to Owens as a babyface and his match against Lashley could easily be one of the Marquee matches of WrestleMania 35. Bryan vs Owens at this point doesn't make any sense and the company should stay away from booking this match for Mania this year.
