Opinion: The reason why you should be excited about WWE Survivor Series
WWE Survivor Series heads our way on 18 November 2018 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The annual event is one of WWE's biggest and oldest traditions, and over the years Survivor Series has given us some of the most memorable moments and matches in WWE history.
This year's event will be based on the battle for brand supremacy, just like it has been since the 2016 brand-split. Although many fans today consider this theme stale, I still believe that WWE fans have plenty of reasons to be excited about Survivor Series this year.
First of all, WWE has already announced a plethora of legitimate dream matches capable of main-eventing WrestleMania. This list includes a mega showdown between 'The Artist' Shinsuke Nakamura and 'The Architect' Seth Rollins in a Champion vs Champion match.
Fans have been clamouring for a WrestleMania dream match between these two phenomenal athletes for years, and fans are fortunate to have the chance to watch this match much earlier than WrestleMania, on the auspicious occasion of Survivor Series.
Elsewhere, Two of the most overly popular and talented women in Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch will go toe-to-toe for the first time ever. Lynch's epic promos and insults on Rousey are more than enough to get you hyped about the match. These two women could create magic inside the ring on any given night.
Even though WWE did the same match on the same event last year, Brock Lesnar and AJ Styles will likely surpass their previous encounter, and give fans a genuine instant classic.
Secondly, Survivor Series has played host to a number of surprises in its prestigious history. Who could ever forget Goldberg decimating Brock Lesnar after an in-ring hiatus of more than a decade at Survivor Series 2016?
Remember the crazy reaction of the fans in 2014 when Sting appeared for the first time in a WWE ring and confronted Triple H in a moment that had every fan catch their breath. Surprises can never be predicted before hand, but I have a feeling we might witness a few shockers at Survivor Series which will shake the arena to its very core.
Lastly and most importantly, the battle for brand supremacy is actually a meaningful story-line. It's another chapter in the never-ending rivalry of Shane McMahon and Stephanie McMahon.
This event always sets the tone for future story-lines as well. Take the example of Shane McMahon's rivalry with Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. The rivalry really picked up steam at Survivor Series last year and ran through WrestleMania.
Don't even dare to miss Survivor Series, because if you do, you might miss something truly special.
