Why Roman Reigns winning the Universal Title isn't the end of the world

What awaits a potential Roman Reigns title run?

We've known the plan for a long time: WWE is going to coronate Roman Reigns as their top guy when he beats Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship in the main event of Wrestlemania 34. But here's why you shouldn't panic.

First of all, we know what Roman Reigns can perform as a champion and in the ring. His resume on top is nothing awful either, as he's managed to have top-tier matches with the likes of AJ Styles, Seth Rollins and he even got a decent match out of Sheamus on a 2015 episode of Raw.

Who's to say he won't have even more classics with an even better 2018 roster?

The possibilities are seemingly endless on the Raw brand. Challengers could include longtime rival Braun Strowman, Shield stablemate Seth Rollins, and even a showdown with the first Universal champion, Finn Balor.

2017 wasn't necessarily a fantastic year for the red belt either, with part-timers Goldberg and Brock Lesnar winning the title after a Kevin Owens-led reign for much of 2016. That's not to say that Goldberg and Lesnar's runs weren't eventful in their own perspectives, but with Reigns at the helm, we will have a full-time champion for the first time in a year.

Lesnar has defended the title only four times in his reign. In 2016, Roman Reigns held the WWE Championship for only three months and defended it just as many times. With the title belonging to a full-time performer, these electric matchups mentioned above are much more likely to come to fruition.

"The Big Dog" is no stranger to having main event-quality matches with a top championship on the line either. Currently as Intercontinental Champion (at the time of this article being written), Reigns has put on stellar matches with Elias and Samoa Joe, and his championship win against The Miz was a talking point due to the growing positive reaction he received.

To make a long story short, whether you hate to love or love to hate Roman Reigns, his championship reign shouldn't enrage you, it should entertain you. The endless possibilities of championship matches, the star-studded challengers that await and the star that will eventually dethrone Reigns are all things to look forward to in 2018.

Believe that!
