Paige's Heel Turn is the best thing that has happened to her since her debut

Fret not, Paige! Heels are far more interesting

WWE finally executed the inevitable and made Paige turn heel. This was expected after weeks of back and forth friendly exchanges, awkward conversations and short matches. Paige’s pleasant demeanor never really seemed sincere and as predictable as her heel turn was, it was very well executed. After a pretty quick, decent match, the interaction between AJ and Paige turned quite vicious. And now, the time has come to say that their rivalry has officially begun

The Transformation of Paige

Paige and AJ are two of the most interesting divas on the roster who have immense screen presence and also they can wrestle. Oaige hasn’t had the most spectacular 3 months following her title win from the longest reigning Divas Champion. She was just a shadow of her NXT anti-diva days. But one thing was there for everyone to see- she had some of the most competent matches in those 3 months and she went through many wrestling moves which have been uncommon in the divas division in the past couple of years.

She had more screen time than other divas champions and that firmly shows the management’s belief in her. But it made many of her oldest fans want to see her back in her anti-diva gimmick. They wanted her badassery to take over her present gimmick of an underdog. Week after week she was just going on winning matches and in that process, just like AJ, she went on to defeat the entire locker room. She debuted and embodied everything expected from a 21 year old newcomer with her hesitance to fight AJ and her ardent arguments that she was not a fluke.

But after Monday Night Raw, it seems Paige is set to look much, much more confident and much more of an anti-diva

Clash of the titans

This is what I want their rivalry to be a clash of the Titans.Throughout the past couple of years AJ has emerged as the one diva with a steady gimmick. She has been adjudged as a crazy diva. In an array of just make up induced, non-wrestling divas, AJ has stood out. She did not have much of a competition, except Eve Torres who had become quite a heel following her storyline with Zack Ryder and John Cena. But AJ and Eve never really had a feud for the championship. And AJ has been the lone one on the top until Paige entered the scene.

A clash between these two has been long awaited. Their match at Battleground could have been better but the audience was completely into it which is very unlike many diva matches. Their match on Raw and their subsequent fallout also had the audience’s curiosity and attention.

Such a reception makes their match to be something to watch out for.

Next Stop- Summerslam

Now they are set to face each other in one of the biggest PPVs in WWE history. It increasingly looks like Summerslam will carry two divas matches- one for the Championship and one for revenge. Not that the former match is dispossessed of a revenge factor. But both of these feuds have been built perfectly on Raw. They look very promising for now and they clearly have a great potential to entertain.

The USP of the feud between Paige and AJ is that with the former’s heel turn, both of them look like interesting characters and the promos between them can be much more interesting. That is what I hope is going to happen. And rest assured, if that happens this feud is not going to end at Summerslam.
