Paul Heyman to shock Roman Reigns with major news, heartbreaking heel turn? - 4 surprises that can happen on WWE SmackDown tonight
WWE Friday Night SmackDown will be airing later tonight on the USA Network. This is a big-time episode, as the blue brand's latest installment will be the final episode ahead of Survivor Series WarGames.
Unlike most episodes of SmackDown, especially the go-home shows, this edition of the blue brand was actually pre-taped. As a result, fans can easily look up which matches happened on the show. That doesn't tell the full story, however.
World Wrestling Entertainment, especially under Triple H, films a lot of vignettes, promos, and segments that they splice in throughout these taped shows that fans in the arena don't see. As a result, there could be some big surprises that spoilers haven't revealed.
This article will take a look at four specific surprises that could be revealed during Friday Night SmackDown tonight. This includes a major shakeup to The Bloodline, the General Manager being attacked, and beyond. What might happen tonight?
Below are four surprises that can happen on WWE SmackDown tonight.
#4. Johnny Gargano could turn heel alongside Tommaso Ciampa via a backstage assault
Friday Night SmackDown's tag team division is on fire. The Motor City Machine Guns are the WWE Tag Team Champions, but they have multiple teams gunning for them, pun intended. This includes The Street Profits and DIY.
DIY is a particularly interesting case. Tommaso Ciampa is furious that Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin joined WWE and won gold immediately. He also thinks The Street Profits are trying to get in their way in DIY's pursuit to win gold. As a result, he has seemingly turned heel and has even attacked the other duos.
Johnny Gargano has been the nice guy trying to make peace this entire time, but he may turn heel come SmackDown. Both members of DIY could trick Shelley and Sabin before jumping them in brutal fashion. This would thus get Gargano and Ciampa to the next level.
#3. Kevin Owens could shockingly hit Nick Aldis backstage
The story of Kevin Owens in WWE has been a fascinating one. He turned heel on Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton, which led to him being suspended temporarily. He later hit a vicious piledriver on The Viper, putting him out of action.
Owens will be going one-on-one with the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes at Saturday Night's Main Event next month. Before then, however, he could have a tense conversation with General Manager Nick Aldis.
Aldis has not been happy with Owens' behavior and he may choose to scold the former Universal Champion in a backstage segment. From there, in a shocking move, Owens could hit Aldis in the face. This could cause another suspension or a fine, but long term, it might set up Kevin battling Nick one-on-one in a return match for the former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion.
#2. Lash Legend could reveal herself as Jade Cargill's attacker on WWE SmackDown
WWE fans were shocked last week when Jade Cargill was shown brutally injured. She was laid out on the hood and windshield of a car, bleeding, and seemingly covered in glass. It was ugly.
For now, fans don't know who attacked Jade Cargill. Some of the WWE Universe are pointing their finger at Nia Jax, while others blame Bayley. In what could be an interesting twist, NXT stars Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson could be the ones revealed as the attackers.
It makes sense, as Lash has been revealed as Jade's replacement in the Women's United States Championship Tournament, plus the two had issues with Jade when chasing the Women's Tag Team Titles. Don't be surprised to see Meta-Four, or even just Lash herself, revealed to be the attacker in a shocking backstage promo.
#1. Paul Heyman could reveal to Roman Reigns that he's done with The Bloodline after this weekend
WWE SmackDown last week featured two incredible returns. First was Paul Heyman, who revealed he was helping The O.G. Bloodline find a fifth member for WarGames. Second was Heyman's hand-selected performer: CM Punk.
Paul Heyman has been a loyal soldier of The Bloodline for years now. He and Roman Reigns officially aligned together in 2020 and they've been mostly inseparable since then. 'Mostly' being the key word, however, as Roman had ghosted Heyman after WrestleMania.
With Roman gone, Heyman was brutally assaulted by Solo Sikoa's Bloodline. Frustrated and hurt, Paul may reveal that after Survivor Series WarGames, he will be done with Bloodline business moving forward. He is helping them one last time. From there, he could either retire or reunite with CM Punk on a full-time basis.
