WWE/Indie News: Sting makes surprise appearance at indie wrestling event

Sting resurfaced after almost a year at this indie wrestling event

What’s the story?

Sting made an appearance at an Indie wrestling show in Qatar called QPW Super Slam on Friday night.

This was a very rare appearance for the veteran Superstar since his career-threatening neck injury that he suffered during his match against Seth Rollins at Night of Champions.

In case you didn’t know…

Sting is one of the most accomplished wrestlers of his time, having fought for the World Championship Wrestling from 1987 to 2002, after which he appeared on TNA for another long stint which ended in 2014.

Since then, Sting has appeared for random segments and big matches on WWE, the most well received feud there being the one against The Authority which finally played out in part during WrestleMania 31 and the following PPV, Night of Champions.

The heart of the matter:

The 2016 WWE Hall of Fame inductee, Sting was was spotted at a independent wrestling event in Qatar called QPW Super Slam, alongside many big names in the industry including Rey Mysterio, Mil Muertes, Booker T, Apolo, Brian Cage, Chris Masters a.k.a Chris Adonis, Carlito, PJ Black, Matt Cross and Alberto El Patron (formerly known as Alberto Del Rio).

A few pictures have surfaced of the event, obviously taken by cell phone cameras which are not of the best quality.

What’s next?

Sting has been in retirement since his shoulder injury back in 2015 and it is very unlikely that we will get to see him wrestle anytime soon.

Author’s take

Sting is one of the legends of our time and I, along with most other fans of his would have liked to see him wrestle a few big names before his retirement, the biggest of them being The Undertaker - but that seems like an impossibility since both Superstars are now retired.
