Popular star to become a double champion, next step in The Bloodline saga? - 4 directions for Sami Zayn after failing to dethrone Gunther on WWE RAW
WWE Monday Night RAW was a big night for many. For starters, this was the first edition of the red brand to be back at two hours for more than a decade. This will remain the case until RAW moves to Netflix in January.
As a result, the show was historic and memorable. The likes of Sheamus and Pete Dunne, who put on a classic Good Ol' Fashioned Donnybrook Match will likely also remember the night. So will CM Punk and Seth Rollins following their tense, but brief interaction.
One superstar who will likely wish to forget this edition of Monday Night RAW is Sami Zayn. The Underdog From The Underground went one-on-one with Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship. Sadly, he came up short.
Now that Sami has failed to win the big gold belt, what is next for the Canadian star? This article will take a look at a handful of possible directions for Zayn, which could include a character change or a shift to SmackDown.
Below are four possible directions for Sami Zayn following his failure to dethrone Gunther on WWE RAW.
#4. He could fight for another rematch with Gunther
Sami Zayn vs. Gunther on WWE Monday Night RAW was an excellent match that will likely be remembered for a long time. Both men are two of the best in-ring performers in the promotion and showed exactly why last night.
With that being said, Sami getting the match wasn't easy. He had to confront Gunther multiple times and even take a bit of a personal cheap shot to coerce the World Heavyweight Champion into taking the bout. Even Ludwig Kaiser got caught in the crosshairs.
If Sami was able to get himself one title match, perhaps he could focus on getting a second shot at the prestigious WWE title. The Underdog From The Underground has a way with words, so it wouldn't be outrageous to assume he could talk his way back into title contention.
#3. Sami Zayn could snap and turn heel in WWE
Sami Zayn has had an up and down few years in WWE. In terms of good news, he is a former tag team champion and Intercontinental Champion. Sami even co-main evented WrestleMania alongside his best friend Kevin Owens.
Unfortunately, he has had quite a few lows too. The Bloodline split and beatdowns, his issues with the likes of Chad Gable and Drew McIntyre, major title losses, and being unable to win the World Heavyweight Championship will likely sting quite a bit.
As a result, Sami could be on the verge of snapping. In fact, he could turn heel and attack a fellow babyface. Perhaps somebody such as Damian Priest or Jey Uso could feel his wrath in a sudden change of character. While this would disappoint fans, it may be what Sami needs to start getting wins again.
#2. He could team up with Jey Uso
Speaking of Jey Uso, Main Event Jey is riding high in WWE right now. After well over a decade in the Sports Entertainment juggernaut, Jey won his first singles title recently and is now the Intercontinental Champion.
Notably, he and Sami, who are close friends, had planned on capturing the World Tag Team Titles together. Both men became distracted by their own individual pursuits, however. Now, Sami could reunite with Jey properly and attempt to dethrone Finn Balor and JD McDonagh of their prized tag team titles.
If Sami Zayn and Jey Uso were to dethrone The Judgment Day, it would be huge for Jey's career. This would make Main Event Jey Uso a double champion, which rarely happens, especially with a mid-card belt and a tag team title. The two could prosper together.
#1. Sami Zayn could rejoin The Bloodline saga
Sami Zayn was once a member of The Bloodline. Despite not being part of the family, he was eventually allowed in with the role of the "Honorary Uce." This led to both hilarious WWE television, but also a lot of drama in the future when he had a nasty split from the group.
In the wake of Sami leaving, he had made it his goal to end The Bloodline and Roman's abuse once and for all. While he didn't quite pull it off, he did expose a lot of cracks in the group. Today, Roman Reigns is a babyface in WWE and The Bloodline now looks completely different.
The OTC is seemingly going to try to rebuild the original Bloodline to try and take down Solo Sikoa's version of the stable. Jimmy Uso is already by his side. The next major step for Roman would be to try to recruit Jey and Sami. Zayn leaving RAW to join Roman on SmackDown would allow for a lot of drama and intrigue and it may be the best move he can make right now.
